Six reasons the research keeps pointing to creatine.

Creatine is an amino acid, naturally produced by your liver, kidneys, and pancreas, and stored directly in your muscles. Think of it as your body's built-in power reserve. Your muscles tap into it every time you need energy, whether that's lifting, running, thinking, or just getting through the day. The problem is your natural supply has a ceiling. Supplement it daily and you push past that ceiling fast. Scroll down to see how creatine shows up for your body when supplemented daily, and consistently.

Brain Health

Cognitive function & memory

A review in Frontiers in Nutrition found creatine supplementation improved memory, attention, and processing speed, especially in adults 18–60.*

Longevity

Lean muscle preservation

After 30, adults lose 3–5% of muscle mass per decade. Creatine, combined with movement, is one of the most effective strategies to slow that loss.*

Daily Energy

Energy production at the cellular level

Creatine replenishes ATP, the body's primary energy currency. More available ATP means more energy for everything from your workout to your afternoon focus.*

Bone Health

Bone density support

Emerging research shows creatine may support bone mineral density, particularly when combined with resistance training, relevant for both women and aging adults.*

Recovery

Faster recovery & reduced inflammation

Creatine helps reduce muscle cell damage and inflammation following exercise, meaning less soreness and quicker return to feeling good.*

Mental Wellness

Mood & mental resilience

Preliminary studies suggest creatine may support mood regulation by increasing brain energy metabolism, a promising area of ongoing research.*

4.9 average score

Thousands of everyday people, athletes, professionals, and everyone in between have made Bucked Up creatine part of their daily routine. Here's a few of them telling it straight.

“If you’re going to only take one supplement for performance, it should be creatine. This helps improve strength, muscle recovery, and performance over time. It’s not a quick fix, but if you take it consistently, it will make a difference in your training. This is something I take daily, not just before workouts. Simple, effective, and one of the few things that actually work.”

Ellen Nieman

“I never skip a day of creatine. The difference I’ve experienced with and without creatine — I could never go without. This is the one supplement I always tell everyone is a must!”

Erika Marie Cisneros

“I am a certified personal trainer. Creatine monohydrate is a natural substance already found in your body that gives your muscles more energy to lift heavier, complete more reps, and have better results. It’s my favorite supplement and I highly recommend it. And if you’re not into pre workout, don’t worry, creatine is not stimulating, it’s not going to make you itch. No side effects to worry about.”

Zayani Bello

“My favorite creatine! It mixes so easily into water and helps me keep consistency in my goals. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good trusted creatine that isn’t mixed with any fillers or junk.”

Lila Anthonsen

“Be honest, are you training hard but still not seeing the strength or muscle gains you want? You show up, you lift, you stay consistent, but your performance just feels capped and recovery takes longer than it should. That’s exactly why I added Bucked Up creatine powder to my daily routine. It helps increase strength and power so I can push harder during my workouts. It supports muscle growth and endurance, helping me get more out of every set. And it improves recovery so I’m not feeling as beat down between training days. Plus it is NSF certified for sport so I know it’s clean, safe, and tested. No banned substances. If you want real results without the fluff, grab Bucked Up creatine and start training at the next level.”

Adrian Ten Hove

“This is Bucked Up’s first ever flavored creatine monohydrate. The one I have is Blue Raspberry, which is my personal favorite. They also have grape, apple, mango, pineapple, and fruit punch. If you’re looking for something reliable, creatine monohydrate is one of the most studied supplements out there. Bucked Up’s Creatine Monohydrate has helped me with better endurance, weightlifting, and recovery time in the gym. This container contains 5000 milligrams of creatine per scoop and has 50 servings per container, so you’re getting your money’s worth.”

Juliette Jehling

“Say hello to your new best friend! If you’re looking to build muscle mass, increase strength, and help with faster recovery, Bucked Up creatine is your new bestie. I promise you won’t be disappointed.”

“BuckedUp’s creatine is great. The tastelessness mixes well with shakes or just straight water and this product has a great price to serving ratio. I am satisfied with this product.”

I bought the vanilla flavor for my shakes and was blown away. It exceeded my expectations, and I can’t wait to try the snickerdoodle next!

CREATINE FAQ & MYTHS

FAQ
MYTHS
When Should I Take Creatine?
There is not a specific time frame as to when you should take creatine, as long as you are getting your serving in for the day. We recommend either with a pre-workout, or as a recovery supplement in the evening
Are there any artificial sweeteners in Bucked Up’s Formulas?
Our formulas are sweetened with Sucralose, which is a highly studied artificial sweetener with zero calories.
How Much Creatine Should I Take In A Day?
For daily use, take 5 grams a day. There is also something known as the Loading Phase: 20 grams a day for a week, then drop it by 5 grams each week until you get back down to the 5 grams a day amount. This phase is optimal for muscle building and growth for users who have never used creatine.
Is Creatine Gluten Free?
Yes.
What Should I Mix Creatine With?
At least 8 oz of water per 5 gram serving of creatine
MYTH: "Creatine makes you gain weight and look puffy."
THE TRUTH:
At a standard 5g daily dose, creatine does not cause bloating or visible water retention. Some people experience a small increase in intracellular water inside the muscle cells themselves — which actually contributes to muscle fullness, not puffiness. The "bloating" reputation came from older, higher loading protocols. Modern use at maintenance dose doesn't produce this effect for most people.*
MYTH: "Creatine is a steroid or some kind of performance drug."
THE TRUTH:
Creatine is not a steroid. It's a naturally occurring compound your body already produces from amino acids, and it's found in red meat and fish. It is completely legal, not on any banned substance lists for major sports organizations at normal doses, and has no hormonal activity whatsoever. It's about as "natural" as a supplement gets.*
MYTH: "Creatine is hard on your kidneys."
THE TRUTH:
This is one of the most persistent myths — and one of the most thoroughly debunked. Decades of research in healthy adults show no adverse effects on kidney function at recommended doses. Creatine does raise creatinine levels in blood work (a natural byproduct), which can be misread as a kidney marker, but this is not an indicator of kidney stress or damage. If you have pre-existing kidney conditions, consult your doctor first.*
MYTH: "Creatine is only for young guys trying to bulk up."
THE TRUTH:
Research consistently shows that women, older adults, and people who never set foot in a gym stand to benefit significantly from creatine. Women have naturally lower creatine stores, making supplementation particularly impactful for them. Adults over 40 benefit from its muscle-preserving and cognitive effects. The "bodybuilder only" label is decades out of date.*
MYTH: "Your body stops responding to creatine over time."
THE TRUTH:
Creatine doesn't work through a receptor or pathway that downregulates with repeated use — it works by saturation. Once your muscles are saturated, a daily maintenance dose keeps them that way. There's no tolerance build-up, no diminishing returns from consistent use, and no reason to cycle off it. Long-term daily use is exactly how it's meant to be taken.*
MYTH: "You have to do a loading phase or it won't work."
THE TRUTH:
Loading (20g/day for a week) gets your muscles saturated faster — about 7 days vs. 3–4 weeks. But both methods reach the same endpoint. If you're not in a rush, simply taking 5g daily works just as well and skips any transient digestive discomfort some people feel during loading. For longevity and general health goals, slow and steady is perfectly effective.*
